What should i do about football practice?

Ive never played football , practice is today @ community college from 4-6PM . The problem is i work 5-8PM.. Today... The i asked the manager to change my schedule tuesdays,wednesdays, & thursdays bc those days football practice is from 4-6pm... Unfortunately the manager did not do anything to help me out. So im wondering if i should call in sick to work & go to practice and have a few words with the coach, and explain to him my situation?
