What is better for hard use? Wood or polymer AK-47 stock?

I found a cheap Norinco Type 56 for $250 and all it needed was its gas piston replaced. Which i did. Now it is flawless. But in all honesty, which is better for hard use. A wooden handguard and stock or polymer. Can the polymer be abused like the wood? (striking hard surfaces with force) And can polymer take more heat? (Shooting non stop without damage to furnature)
